Iconology Research Group
Professor Dr. Barbara Baert (KU Leuven) founded the Iconology Research Group (IRG) in 2006. IRG is a research platform that explores the role of iconology in relation to Visual Studies and Bildwissenschaften. The IRG research projects mainly focus on the making, meaning and migration of images from the Middle Ages to the present day.

Functieomschrijving

Internship during the 2019-2020 academic year Your main task will consist of editorial work in support of publications of the IRG series. You will assist Professor Dr. Barbara Baert, the founder and editor-in-chief of "Iconologies" (ASP Editions), "Studies in Iconology" (Peeters), "Art & Religion" (Peeters) and "Recollection: Experimental Reflections on Texts, Images and Ideas" (Leuven University Press), with the preparation of a new contribution to one of these series. Furthermore you will assist the organization of an academic conference and support website maintenance. You will also be involved in Professor Dr. Barbara Baert’s latest research project "Kairós, or the Right Moment: Nachleben and Iconology" (2018-2022) by analyzing and describing images in the Cumulus database for example.

Profiel

You are a student (Art History) looking for an internship during the academic year 2019-2020 (first and/or second semester). Necessities: Teamwork – but you’re also able to carry out assignments independently. Attention to detail – you’re an extremely accurate worker. Languages – fluency in English is essential and a good working knowledge of Dutch, French and German. Computer skills.
